Cell Phone Service expectations

A simple question.  What kind of service do you expect from your cellular carrier?

This would range from the initial order to in-store customer service to phone/online customer service/tech support to how does the perceived service you receive based on your plan compare to your expectations going in.  The above is just a guideline and by no means a concrete framework.

After yday's class, I can say that expectations from the cellular  service provider will depend on the SLA between the customer and the cellular service provider.

From the cellular service customer's point of view, the following are important factors:

1. Reliability and availability. As the number of people moving from land-lines to cellular have increasing, the quality of service being received is also decreasing. The number of dropped calls that all of us have to face is a proof of that. However, this factor becomes more important during exceptional circumstances. E.g. during blackout in August 2003, all cell phones went dead almost immediately as opposed to wired phones, most of which kept working.

2. Information security: Wireless carrier can track your location whenever your handset is powered on. Securing private information becomes a key responsibility of the service provider.

The above mentioned factors, besides the ones mentioned in the first post, play an important role to keep the customers satisfied and happy with the service provided.
